The first North London Darkroom Show

by Sebastian Edge - November 2013

It has been nearly a year and a half since opening the doors of North London Darkroom to membership. The eight photographers that use the facilities here have had some great successes in their development and professional careers.

In June this year we advertised for help to create the first public show of work. Elena Gaddini, a graduate in curation took up the challenge to help create the first public event for North London Darkroom. A difficult task given that the only thing that connects us as photographers is our method.. Black and white print.. All the members of the darkroom have very different working styles, practises and pursuits. So the show was to be about the method and the way in which a new and current generation of photographers are maintaining a physical presence with a darkroom print, a practise rarely seen yet often spoken about.

So with special thanks to all of supporters, Elena, the members of North London Darkroom, Crowdfunder.co.uk and all of our backers, Meridian Audio and SAID.

We are Launching our first annual publication GRAIN, comprising of work by the eight current members and the winners of this years competition to be part of the show.

And the first annual North London Darkroom showcase ARTEFACTS
