Seán MacKenna

by Sebastian Edge - November 2012

Seán MacKenna passed away in late October. He was a great man, I will be eternally thankful for his time, in teaching myself and many others Wet Collodion over the years, especially his eternal endeavour to teach the process in the vein that it was invented, for free. .because that was how its inventor (Frederick Scott Archer) wanted it to be. Seán's legacy lives on in his students, his archive and his wife Jen. He will be missed by all those who had the joy of working with a man, whose constant efforts to teach a forgotten art and his efforts in conservation of not just a process but a philosophical idea that photography should be free.

We are currently trying to track down as many of Seán's students, if you knew Seán please contact the darkroom for more details.
